How to get a birth certificate in bangalore?

I was born in Bangalore.I need to produce my birth certificate for getting my passport. I have the birth certificate issued by the hospital in which i was born. But i need the birth certificate that is issued by the Registrar of births and deaths, BMP. I tried going to a couple of BBMP offices but it was of no use, they're just making me roam form one office to another.
